It Started with Frustration
Back in 2019, I was consulting for a mid-sized manufacturing company in Brisbane. The CFO, brilliant with operations, kept asking the same question during our monthly reviews: "I can read these numbers, but what are they actually telling me?"
That's when it hit me. Traditional financial education focuses on creating statements, not interpreting them. People learn to calculate ratios but miss the story those ratios tell about cash flow, operational efficiency, or market position.
We spent the next six months developing a teaching approach that connects numbers to real business decisions. Instead of memorizing formulas, students learn to ask the right questions and spot patterns that matter for actual business outcomes.
